| Law # 1 Dress code |
| It is important to play the part. If you don’t dress the part it is hard to get people to take you seriously. When going out to network always check to make sure you look the part. Would you buy a product or service from someone who didn’t take care of their appearance? You shouldn’t expect someone to recommend you to someone if you aren’t going to dress appropriately when you are networking. Even if you are going to see the same people each week it is important to dress as if you were going on a sales call. |
| Law # 2 Don’t sell |
| Selling is for salespeople. Networker’s are about getting to know people. If you are going around selling products, services or yourself you are missing the point of networking. It is about getting to know people. Getting to understand how you can help others. Ask anybody what they think about a sales person and you will find for the most part it won’t be good. |
| Law # 3 Don’t be boring |
| Ever go to a party and get caught in the corner by someone who won’t stop talking about something important to them? Ever wonder if you are that person? Here is a good litmus test. If you can’t say it in 20 seconds or less you probable lost the interest of the person you are talking to. |
